At 10am on Monday I get a frantic call from a single woman from California panicked about traveling to Nicaragua in a couple of weeks. I’m not sure if I’ve chosen the right places to stay! I’m worried about safety? Are there any other cities I should be visiting that aren’t on my itinerary? I was planning on taking public transportation but now I’m not sure if I should. You get the picture.
Every time I tell other women about moving abroad they are in awe and excited. Apparently I'm not the only one with dreams of beaches and mountain hikes, improving my language skills, learning about culture and supporting others with my skills to help the world be a better place. I fell in love with Nicaragua and you might too.
I felt really safe traveling alone and in fact preferred it over being with others. It gave me a chance to make new friends and boy did I. I met so many wonderful people and even connected with three other ladies on Ometepe Island such that we traveled together for several days just enjoying each other. I was the elderly stateswoman of the bunch as our ages ranged from early twenties to early fifties. We stay in contact today and share dreams of traveling again soon.
At Finding My Place (FMP), we are planning a trip to Nicaragua in August. Grab a girlfriend and join the party. Have you ever been there or wanted to go? We'll get to learn about real estate, great places to live, shop at local markets and learn about life there. Come and join in the fun!
Hi, I'm Ingrid and I love sharing what I learn about travel and living abroad with you!
